Trying the Frenchman: Compagnie des Indes Dominidad Small Batch Nr. 2 15y 2000

It is a known fact that I am not much of a French rum fan. But I got hooked this time. Compagnie des Indes (CDI) from France seeks the best rums, bottling them or blending them so that they represent the individual parts of the Caribbean.

Dominidad Small Batch Nr. 2 comes from the year 2000. This is a limite edition of 936 only, one of which I happen to own 🙂  CDI chose 3 aged rums from The Dominican Republic and Trinidad. They blended them and let them rest for 15 years in bourbon barrels.

The resulting rum is certainly no baby. 43 % and 15 years have made him quite powerful. I was worried I would not like it but this taste is awesome. The blend balances on the edge between a strong rum and fresh notes. This is not an easy sweet rum, this is a rum to relish. I recommend it for summer evenings with a cigar. But not only those.

Compagnie des Indes Dominidad Small Batch Nr. 2 is available in the Czech Republic for approx. CZK 1 700 on Alkohol.cz. If you feel like other CDI beauties, try the full range.
